4 posts, time to start talking hockey

In one week, the winter season of galactic ice begins. My team (the Greenwood Guillotines) enters this season as a battle worn shadow of its former self. It WILL be a difficult season, but i am confident in my team and our desire to improve. As i plan on using this blog for brainstorming, I will spend the rest of this blog spewing thoughts, lines, strategies and nonsense, so continue reading if you wish, it might not be pretty.

Our roster this season is as follows:
FULL SEASON:
Michael Covino
Matt Cushion
Jeff Gates
Mike Martin
Nathan Perretta
Jared Pufka
Tyler Rabold
Jamie Smith
Derek Vaughn
Scott Pickrell (G)

PERIODICAL
Mike Millward
Jim Ickes
Alan Pickrell

Our roster this coming season contains at least seven fewer members than our previous season. Not only that but five of our leading scorers are leaving. This causes a captain to be a little more than worried. I care about my team far more than i care about putting up a win, and the concerns expressed by my teammates before the season began outweighed the need for new players. There were those who did not agree with some new additions and those who wanted to try a season with a shorter bench. Why not? It will be an interesting season to say the least. And that bit about a smaller bench, well that shouldn't be a problem at all. Im hoping we can work with 10 skaters every game, although it looks like we may be dealing with 9 or less. As far as lines i am working with the following combinations

Forwards:
LW: Jae Smith RW: Tyler Rabold C: Michael Covino
LW: Matt Cushion RW: Periodical (Ickes, Millward, Pickrell) C: Jeff Gates

Defense:
Nathan Perretta Jarred Pufka
Mike Martin Derek Vaughn

Like i said these are ideal lines all things considering, but more games than not, i forsee us having too short of a bench to worry about forwards and defense, and as a core, everyone will need to chip in and play every position. It will be tough, i just hope that galactic ice balances the leagues so one team does not dominate play for the whole season.

On a final note, i would like to mention our new logo, featured at the top of the post. Hopefully we will be unveiling new jerseys that will feature the new logo. For this to happen, it looks like we may require a sponsorship. Meetings will be taking place at the beginning of the month, to discuss a possible sponsor. Fingers Crossed.

Stay tuned for schedules and game updates.

Another day off

So its my day off, and i once again find myself waking up at 1PM. I dont necessarily hate that every day off is wasted this way, but i hate the fact that work makes me loathe myself so much that on my days off I feel as helpless as a mouse in a trap. I dont know if it is the work or the city that makes me feel like that, but i do know something needs to change. I cant wait around this place for something to happen, and on the same note i cant up-and-go without a clue as to where to go or what to do. Thinking about the united states and all the options is excruciatingly intimidating to the point where, if i begin thinking about leaving, all the potential choices cause me to go into meltdown mode and i just shut off. All i would like is a nudge in any direction and i would be more than willing to uproot and head off. There are people i know in so many places that i could move to: Bennett in San Fran, Becky in Syracuse, Matt and Kyle in NYC, Nick and Tara in Florida, even Mat in Arizona; the difficult part is imagining my life in those places and what i would do if i landed there. Maybe i need to branch off in my own direction and try somewhere new? Maybe i will never know.

First post, this seems familiar....

Here we are again. Another useless waste of time? maybe. A way to vent? definitely. So what brings you here? Certainly someone out there must think I have something of importance to say, otherwise why would I have the right to express myself. I suppose I just find these types of outlets easier to deal with than perhaps a 'note' on facebook or in 140 characters on twitter.

So regardless of why I created this blog, or why you are reading it, I hope you can find some type of enjoyment from it. I cant promise i will always have something intelligent to write or post about. I cant promise it will always be entertaining. In fact i cant even be sure for certain that this blog will be updated with the utmost of frequency. What I can promise is, plain and simple, myself. Whether it is from a basic post of an amusing internet meme, or a heartfelt verbose entry; you can guarantee my personality will be shown throughout, and I hope you can find some satisfaction throughout. Without further ado, i present: My Blog.
